The New Gold Rush

The New Gold Rush by Don Sabelhaus

When the crap hit the fan in 2008 and the world economy took a nosedive there were very few who could have predicted where we are today. Those waiting for the economy to rebound and for the jobs to come back may as well face the hard facts, the jobs aren’t coming back and the hope and change you voted for, how’s that working for you?

The times they are a changing, and if you don’t get on board with the changes you’ll be left in the dust. The old 9-5 or 7-30 model is fast disappearing. No longer are you going to be paid for showing up and punching a time clock.

Computerization, robotics, and a host of new technologies are replacing people, and the corporate world is taking advantage of it. However as the old adage goes, for every door closed another opens.

The new door has opened to the digital world of the internet. Regardless of your ability to recognize the change that is happening, the change is happening.

The new economy will be fueled by Network Marketing, the tried and proven business model used for years by companies like Amway, Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Herbalife, just to name a few. Better known by the term, multilevel marketing (MLM)

The first thing you must do is rid yourself of misconceptions you may have about this marketing method. You may have come by your attitude about MLM from your parents, friends, or negative stories from those who tried it, did it wrong, had no success and blamed the company, product, their upline, and everything else, but themselves.

Network marketing is as much about personal growth as it is about making money. As guru and my mentor Eric Worre says, network marketing isn’t perfect, it’s just better.

Network marketing is one of the last low cost barrier to entry business left. If you are starting the typical brick and mortar business offline you are looking at thousands possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars without any guarantee of a return on investment.

One can start a network marketing business for a few hundred dollars or less, but you are only kidding yourself if you think you are going to make money with a program that costs nothing to join. For one thing, there is no such thing as free, somebody has to pick up the cost and it’s usually the guy who thinks he’s getting something for free.

There are still plenty of scams in which one can throw money into without hopes of ever getting it back, let alone a profit.

This is where the phrase caveat emptor is appropriate, let the buyer beware. Before risking any money do your research, you will find plenty of information on Google for any program or opportunity you are interested in, pro and con. It’s up to you to decide if the information is valid.

This also amplifies the importance of relationships in network marketing, before joining someone in a program, make sure they are trustworthy.

The program you join will have a support structure in place along with a reasonably easy to understand compensation program, an actual product being offered for sale, and you want a responsive upline, this underlines the importance of who you allow to sponsor you.

I’ve Been Away Long Enough

It’s funny how time has a way of disappearing while you’re busy doing other things. I would have sworn it was just the other day I said, I’ve got to write a blog post. Fast forward one year later.

It was my intention when starting this blog, to be a source of learning for those new to internet marketing, I sincerely apologize to those who were following my post’s, I hope you didn’t wait on me.

Well I’m back.

My focus has changed somewhat. I don’t want to get bogged down in the terminology, but my focus will be geared more towards “Network Marketing“, but in reality, it’s all internet marketing.

The past year I have been spending most of my time and article writing at IBOToolBox.com, if you are an internet marketer and do not have an account there (it’s free) I suggest you open one immediately, it’s that important to your young business.

In upcoming posts I’ll be writing a lot about my experiences with network marketing, sharing my lessons learned, success’s and losses.

IBOToolBox.com Mini Review

IboToolBox.com is the greatest thing to hit the social networking scene since Facebook, and if you are a network marketing professional, amateur, or especially if you are a wannabe, you want to sign up for this free platform.

Developer Paul Williams has given a godsend to the online marketing community with this relatively new platform. I will do a better review later on, but right now you need to get over there and sign up, because to be quite honest, if you don’t you are an idiot and deserve to be among the 96% of online failures!

Is Online Marketing For Me?

With all the election year hype about how the economy is recovering, I’m sure you know by now that it is all hype. The employment numbers going down is just a reflection of the fact that people are falling off the role, their benefits have run out.

If you are one of the unfortunate ones to have fallen off the role, no job prospect in site, and completely out of options, then maybe you should consider turning your life’s experience into a new career as an online marketer. Yes, it has value and is marketable.

You may be asking yourself, is online marketing for me?  I ask you, why not? What do you really have to loose, it is one of the last opportunities available with a very low barrier to entry. If you’re reading this you already have access to the internet, which is one of the biggest cost’s you will have.

I’m not going to fill your head with promises of easy riches, although it has happened, but if you’re willing to learn a few things and make some changes in your thinking, it is possible to make a living with online marketing.

Although not necessary, a mentor can save you a lot of time and confusion, but if you have the time and desire you can find everything you need to know at the Google machine. If you go that route be prepared to be confused, and sort out all of the information you will find on starting in the online marketing business.

One of the first things you can do is subscribe to Don’s Marketing Blog rss feeds or the newsletter so you can be notified on new posts that you will find useful in your search for information on the online marketing business. You can also go through the articles here on the site.

Where is Online Marketing Headed?

If you have been in the business of online marketing for even a short time, you have obviously noticed that it is ever-changing. Along with its ever-changing nature, it’s becoming more crowded by the day. You must be asking yourself, where is it headed, what is the future of online marketing?

According to marketing master and longtime guru Dan Kennedy, content is no longer king, the future will belong to those who have a close personal relationship with their followers. After all, you can find the answer to practically any question or problem just by going to the Google machine and type in your question.

So how do you differentiate yourself from everyone else who is hawking the same product?  This is where Dan’s thinking comes into play; you must have a personal relationship with your prospect. They must want to follow you because they feel they know you, just like a personal friend.

You must be yourself, and you will not be yourself if you are trying to duplicate someone else. You must share yourself and bits and pieces of your life, just as you would with a friend.

In closing, it is my humble opinion, that Dan sees the future as it is unfolding.
