Is Online Marketing For Me?

With all the election year hype about how the economy is recovering, I’m sure you know by now that it is all hype. The employment numbers going down is just a reflection of the fact that people are falling off the role, their benefits have run out.

If you are one of the unfortunate ones to have fallen off the role, no job prospect in site, and completely out of options, then maybe you should consider turning your life’s experience into a new career as an online marketer. Yes, it has value and is marketable.

You may be asking yourself, is online marketing for me?  I ask you, why not? What do you really have to loose, it is one of the last opportunities available with a very low barrier to entry. If you’re reading this you already have access to the internet, which is one of the biggest cost’s you will have.

I’m not going to fill your head with promises of easy riches, although it has happened, but if you’re willing to learn a few things and make some changes in your thinking, it is possible to make a living with online marketing.

Although not necessary, a mentor can save you a lot of time and confusion, but if you have the time and desire you can find everything you need to know at the Google machine. If you go that route be prepared to be confused, and sort out all of the information you will find on starting in the online marketing business.

One of the first things you can do is subscribe to Don’s Marketing Blog rss feeds or the newsletter so you can be notified on new posts that you will find useful in your search for information on the online marketing business. You can also go through the articles here on the site.

Where is Online Marketing Headed?

If you have been in the business of online marketing for even a short time, you have obviously noticed that it is ever-changing. Along with its ever-changing nature, it’s becoming more crowded by the day. You must be asking yourself, where is it headed, what is the future of online marketing?

According to marketing master and longtime guru Dan Kennedy, content is no longer king, the future will belong to those who have a close personal relationship with their followers. After all, you can find the answer to practically any question or problem just by going to the Google machine and type in your question.

So how do you differentiate yourself from everyone else who is hawking the same product?  This is where Dan’s thinking comes into play; you must have a personal relationship with your prospect. They must want to follow you because they feel they know you, just like a personal friend.

You must be yourself, and you will not be yourself if you are trying to duplicate someone else. You must share yourself and bits and pieces of your life, just as you would with a friend.

In closing, it is my humble opinion, that Dan sees the future as it is unfolding.

Information Junkie or Action Slacker

Information, it’s everywhere you turn. I guess it’s to be expected in the information age.

By my definition an information junkie is someone who gets a high from new knowledge. In and of itself learning new things is a natural desire most of us humans have. It’s when that new knowledge gets shoved into a corner of your mind until it fades away, without ever having been put to use, that you become an information junkie.

You’ve just acquired new information for the high, and have become what I call an action slacker. Again by my definition, an action slacker is someone who does not put the new information they sought, to use. By not putting it to use, and allowing it to fade away, you’ve wasted your time.

There is not much hope of curing an information junkie, however there is a cure for action slackers, put your new information into use, act on it. You will never reach your marketing goals by just acquiring new information and never putting it into action.

How many programs, courses, books, videos, etc. have you spent your resources i.e., time and money, on, just to end up on a shelf or the corner of your mind. If you fail to put that new information into action, it’s just been a total waste.

Now if you have an abundance of time and money to waste, then, aren’t you the fortunate one. I would venture to say, the majority of us are not in that position though.

So, think about it, are you an information junkie or action slacker, do you want to kick the habit?

What is a Squeeze Page Anyway

As the title of this article asks, what is a squeeze page anyway? Basically, a squeeze page can be thought of as bait. You want someone to take the bait and sign up for something, a newsletter in most cases. This is how your mailing list is built.

This blog is a squeeze page of sorts. If you look in the upper right side of the page you will see an area to subscribe to this blog. Almost any page you go to will have some type of form for subscribing to that pages niche.

So it behooves you to put some effort into designing your squeeze page. What do you see when you land on a page? Usually something FREE being offered, a news letter, chapters from a book, videos, webinar tickets, samples, etc., usually just enough to get you interested, and entice you to want more. That is the purpose of a squeeze page, to build your list.

If you are going to offer something free, be sure it has some real value, if you don’t deliver on the promise you’ll turn your prospect sour, on you. You can get really creative when designing your squeeze page, two of the most effective emotions you will see used a lot are fear and urgency.

There are hundreds of words and phrases that evoke emotions, such as “Best Kept Secret,” “Shocking,” “FREE,” “Special Offer,” “Urgent,” you get the picture.

Remember What the Dormouse Said | Feed Your Head

This line from the White Rabbit lyrics by Jefferson Airplane has a lot of truth in it. Every part of your body needs sustenance, including your brain. Moreover, just like any other part of your body the condition of the part is related to what it is fed.

Feed it garbage and guess what you will get out of it? Right – garbage. Another old computer related adage comes to mind “garbage in garbage out.” The food you feed your head comes in the form of the myriad of experiences and sensory input you are in contact with, every minute of your waking life.

You have control over what you feed your head, therefore if you want to be successful in your online business, or any endeavor for that matter, it behooves you to feed your head that which will further your goals.

As an example, if you feed your head a steady diet of the 24 hour barrage of negative, so called, news you will certainly have a bleak outlook on life in general.  The same goes for the moronic entertainment available on the telly, a steady diet of that and… well, you get the picture.

If you want to succeed in your business you must feed your head that which  will benefit your business, you must be focused on that which will aid you, such as new knowledge, motivational input, like minded personal contacts, the latest marketing techniques, informational newsletters, etc.

Every move you make is a move towards or a move away from your goal(s).

What are you going to feed your head today?

You can receive a positive source of input from our free newsletter, be aware of the latest tips n’ tricks, marketing methods and strategies, what the guru’s are up to, etc. and get a free bonus too.

Choosing The Right Mentor

When you decide that you want to be an internet marketer, you have two choices. You can do it the hard way, or you can follow a mentor. The hard way involves doing all the research required to teach yourself everything needed to get started in the business. The second choice is to pick a mentor and follow him/her.

I said it was a second choice, I didn’t say it was easy. There are many mentors, often referred to as guru’s.  The hard part is to find one that you resonate with. There are many good ones, there are also many bad ones. You have an inner voice that will help you choose a good one, this inner voice will help you spot the BS artists also.

You’ll find them offering mentoring for all sorts of topics related to internet marketing. Although there is a basic strategy to the process, each mentor adds his/her special secret. You’ll know when you’ve found the right one because a light will go on when you absorb the mentors free content. They all offer a peek inside their program with free content, be sure to grab all they give you.

11Title: Build it and They Will Come | NOT

This misquoted phrase became popular with the movie Field of Dreams; the actual quote is “If you build it, he will come.” Along with similar phrases such as “do what you love, and the money will follow,” implies all that is necessary to achieve success with your goals or dreams is to love what you’re doing and success will automatically follow.

The truth is, nothing could be further from the truth. There is no “magic pill,” no “unknown secret,” it’s going to require, dare I say, work, anything else is plain and simple wishing. While I’m spewing out quotes, keep this one in mind, “You can‘t handle the truth!”

I’m not implying that these things are un-important, they are very important, but you will not accomplish your goals using these principals alone, you must have a plan, and you must act on that plan. When you purchase a product from a “guru”, you are purchasing their plan, their strategy which has worked for them. You can save yourself a lot of money by just accepting the free content that they offer, in most cases it is very valuable.

If you follow the guru’s long enough, absorb all of the free content that they offer, you will see the “secret” in this industry expose itself. Then this is where the work begins, developing a plan of your own.

The King of FREE Content

There are many gurus in the expert industry today, but I have to admit my favorite is Brendon Burchard. Not only does he give a lot of his knowledge free of charge, but he does it with enthusiasm. When he speaks you can feel the energy and passion in his voice.

He is a best selling author, motivational speaker, and all round good guy. I suggest you click his name above, and become acquainted with the king. For those of you familiar with him, well then I’m just preaching to the choir.

He was my main inspiration for getting into this industry.
